The program, entitled “Our Aukland” enables talented young artists to present their work at the airport.
Charles Spillane, general manager of Auckland Corporate Affairs, said: “Our local community is rich with talented creative individuals, who also is supported by the diversity of culture in South Auckland. We are very pleased to be part of this vibrant community and we want to provide local students with the opportunity to showcase their talents to a wide range of people visiting Auckland Airport every day.”
The first work in the program was the wall painting “Our place” that make students of High School Papatoetoe. The works depict architecture as elements of the airport, as the first other places of historical and natural attractions of Auckland.
Rakesh Govind, Acting Director of High School Papatoe, said: “For our students to be involved in this wonderful project was a fantastic opportunity. I saw their enthusiasm and commitment, and I know that this experience will remain for the future.”
