Floating parking built in Istanbul

In Istanbul, plans to build a floating parking lot to solve the chronic problems of traffic.


Municipal parking lot operator said that the use decommissioned ferries are anchored in the Bosporus, to create a multi- section near the hot spots on the roads.

Floating car park will also have a variety of amenities such as cafes, seating areas and art galleries , according to the company ISPARK, which is engaged in the project.

Traffic congestion and lack of parking is a major problem for the bustling metropolis with a population of 16 million people.

Construction of parking – one of several mega projects initiated by the Government of Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In October, Turkey opened a tunnel under the Bosphorus sea – the first in the world, linking the two continents , as well as plans to build a third airport in Istanbul and the third bridge over the Bosphorus.

The city with its wealth of Ottoman and Byzantine monuments most visited in Turkey. This year, according to official figures, it was visited by more than 9.7 million foreign tourists.

Mr. Erdogan came under fire during the mass street protests in June against the ambitious construction projects of the government, which, according to critics, aimed at drawing the attention of citizens before the elections, which are scheduled for 2014 and 2015.

Floating car park for 400 vehicles , valued at $ 12 million, will start in Istanbul , said the ISPARK.
