The area around the statue, which, it is assumed, was built during the reign of Pharaoh Khafre (2558-2532 gg. BC), was under construction for nearly four years. Restoration included replacement of blocks on the left side of the statue, which were cracked and added a special coating to prevent further erosion.
As the approaching winter tourist season in Egypt, this news has encouraged visitors, whose number has fallen significantly in recent years due to protests, civil insurrection, to visit the country of pharaohs.
